HEREFORD United chairman David Keyte has enjoyed some sporting success this week after his horse won at Exeter.
Keyte’s horse, Harry Topper, triumphed in the 4.40pm yesterday (Tuesday) at Exeter.
The win was light relief for Keyte because it has been a tough couple of weeks at Edgar Street for United's chairman.
United announced a serious cash-flow problem last week and need to raise around £275,000 by the end of November.
Keyte has appealed for fans to make donations to the club – and more than £15,000 has been ploughed in.
“We are going through a stage of telling the fans the situation we’re in and giving them a chance to help,” he said.
“We will then assess things and see if the club is financially viable.”
Should the club fail to make ends meet, the board of directors would be left with little choice but to put the club into administration.
However, Keyte has stressed that ‘administration’ would be the last resort.
He added that fans from as far away as Cape Town, New York, Cyprus and Norway had donated money to the club.
Meanwhile, tickets have now gone on sale for United’s FA Cup first-round clash against Shrewsbury Town at Edgar Street on Saturday, November 3.
“We need to fill the ground and fans can help us by buying their tickets early,” said Keyte.
“Maybe fans, on the day of the game, can buy a ticket, a programme and have a pint in the supporters’ club.”
The FA Cup match is an all-ticket affair.
Tickets won’t be sold on the day of the tie, which kicks off at 1pm.
