A DELIGHTED Stourport horticultural family is celebrating after finally winning a top award at a prestigious flower show.

Cook’s Garden Centre was awarded a gold medal for their show-stopping display of Hydrangeas in the Floral Marquee at the world famous Chelsea Flower Show.

It is the first time the family business, run by Paul and Sally Cook alongside their children Hannah and Paul, has scooped gold after coming agonisingly close during the last three years of appearing at the event.

The Cooks are now planning to celebrate their victory with staff when they return from the show, which ends on May 26.

Their award winning stand incorporated planting by Paul, Hannah and Tom while Sally did the floral arrangement to wow the judges.

Hannah said: “As a family we are extremely proud and will be celebrating as a whole family and staff upon our return.

“We wouldn’t have been able to achieve our first Gold Medal without the support of our team at home and Westland and D-zine.

“Over the last 27 years of my dad exhibiting at other Royal Horticultural Society shows, he has received countless gold medals but has never achieved one at Chelsea.

“This is our fourth year of exhibiting at Chelsea and we have achieved 3 Silver Gilts consecutively, narrowly missing out on Gold medals every time.”
