KIND workers from a Kidderminster company are taking on a daring challenge this weekend to raise money for Midlands Air Ambulance.

Wendy Woodward, aged 55, and 38-year-old Tony White, from kitchen specialists Abraxas Catering Equipment, will abseil 240ft from the roof of the Hampton by Hilton Hotel in Birmingham on Saturday (May 19).

Abraxas selected Midlands Air Ambulance as its chosen charity for the year. And they are hoping anyone not watching the Royal Wedding or the FA Cup to come along and cheer them on.

Director Wendy said: “You just never know when you might need the support of the air ambulance.

“With each mission costing around £2,500, the charity need to raise a staggering £9 million each year to keep its three air ambulances operational.

“Midlands Air Ambulance relies on the support and generous donations gifted from individuals and businesses, and as a team, Abraxas felt the charity worthy of our fundraising efforts this year.”

She added: “I’ve always loved a challenge, and I enjoy pushing myself to accomplish new things.

“Having never completed an abseil and with it featuring on my personal ‘bucket list’ it would have been rude to turn down the opportunity!

“We invite anyone not planning to watch the royal wedding on TV to come down and cheer us on.”
