THE RECENT Ledbury Community Day was a double celebration for the Ledbury Children's Centre, which celebrated its tenth anniversary at the same time.

And community love and support for the centre, in the grounds of Ledbury Primary, was very much in evidence.

Centre spokesman, Jill Jupp said: "The event was put on by the Friends of Ledbury Children’s Centre, a volunteer run Group that supports Ledbury Children’s Centre services, to celebrate ten years of Children’s Centre Services in Ledbury.

"The celebration, which was financially supported by Ledbury Town Council, attracted over 80 families, a number of which had attended the Centre when it first opened in 2008."

Mrs Jupp added: "The theme of the Day was ‘Let’s Be Active and Have Fun Together’ and it was for families with babies to early teens.

"Great fun was had by children and adults alike, and activities included musical activities for all ages, water and sand play, art and craft, cooking, a sow and grow project, funded by the Tesco Bags of Help scheme, a bouncy castle, a fun run, Herefordshire Wild Play, including den building and a mud kitchen , soft archery with Fortis Living and a teddy bear trail and games with Ledbury Youth Council."

Mrs Jupp said: "The Friends were particularly pleased to have the support of Ledbury Youth Council at this event and would welcome their involvement in future activities.

"At the end of the day there was a Memories Book which many families signed, saying how much they had enjoyed the day and about the memories they had of their times at the Centre."

Comments included: “Thank you for a fantastic day. The Children’s Centre always was for us a warm and friendly place and "The Children’s Centre have become like a family to us, offering support when needed, fun and friendship. I am incredibly grateful to Ledbury Children’s Centre. Here’s to the next ten years."
