ELDERLY residents at two Kidderminster care homes have been able to connect with loved ones face to face during the coronavirus lockdown through video call.
Hollyfields and Ivy House have launched their new CONNECT scheme to allow residents to keep in touch with their families while the care homes are closed to the public.
The homes' 43 residents, some of whom have dementia, have been linking with loved ones via Skype, Messenger and Facetime to reduce the risk of loneliness and isolation.
Fiona Brewin, general manager of Hollyfields and Ivy House, said: “Residents have really enjoyed chatting with their relatives and seeing them face to face during this difficult time puts a smile on their face.
"It makes a huge difference to our resident’s wellbeing and introduces new forms of communication skills too.”
