THIS summer, intrepid walkers from across the county are invited to take on the 17 peaks of the Malvern Hills for two charities.

May 2 sees the Mayor's Peaks Challenge, raising money for both Heartstart Malvern and Malvern Hills Foodbank.

There are two routes available: the longest, which is 15km over all 17 peaks stretching from Chase End Hill to North Malvern Hill at the other end. The other route is a shorter 7km route from British Camp, over seven peaks to North Malvern Hill.

It costs £15 to take part in the walk, which includes the cost of transport to the starting point, as well as the t-shirt and medal each walker will receive. The shorter route costs £10.

Mayor of Malvern Neil Morton said: "This is a great chance to take on a fantastic challenge whilst enjoying the beauty of the Malvern Hills and also raising money for my chosen charities.

"I look forward to greeting walkers at the finish in Rose Bank Gardens and presenting them with their well-earned finisher’s medal."

The event is being sponsored by Malvern Panalytical and The Mount Pleasant Hotel with Whitehouse Vets sponsoring rosettes for any dogs completing the challenge.

Heartstart Malvern provides defibrillators and defibrillator training to groups and communities across Malvern. The Malvern Hills Foodbank provides vital support to those struggling to make ends meet.
