TWO men with connections to county lines drug dealing have been jailed.

A jury found Usman Shazad, 26, guilty of possessing heroin with intent to supply last month.

The jury also convicted him on a second count of conspiracy to supply class A drugs, cocaine and heroin, with Rubel Miah, 30, of Birmingham, who pleaded guilty to the charge last year.

At a sentencing hearing, held on March 6, both men were sentenced at Worcester Crown Court. Miah received a prison sentence of five years and eight months, while Shazad was sentenced to five years in prison.

The pair were stopped by police officers in North Malvern Road and were found in possession of a number of mobile phones, cash and heroin. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that they had also travelled to Malvern on a number of previous occasions.

During the trial Shazad gave evidence in his defence and told the jury he was not a drug dealer and claimed he went to Malvern to go to an Indian restaurant, and to see the sunset on the Malvern Hills. But the jury didn't believe him, and were unanimous in their guilty verdict.

Following the crown court hearing, Sergeant Steven Tandy said: "The drugs that the pair were supplying to Malvern was a well-established line that we believe had been ongoing for some time.

"We are determined to shut down county lines networks and this investigation is testament to that commitment.”
