TWO brothers from Malvern are once again trying to spread some Christmas cheer and raise money for charity with their annual Christmas lights display.

Tom and Tim Leaman, who live in Beauchamp Road, have been setting up their lights to raise money for several years to raise money for Fort Royal School in Worcester and Midlands Air Ambulance.

This year’s display features a special guest with Santa’s Grotto also forming part of the display.

Tom Leaman said: “We have been doing the Christmas lights for last six years, all for charity.

“We used to decorate our house every year but thought ‘why not do it for charity?’ and so we did.

“It was such a success we decided to carry on doing it.

“We decided to help Fort Royal Community Primary School again this year as we have a family member who goes there and all the money from fundraising helps buy equipment for the school.

“This year we decided to choose Midland Air Ambulance as well so the money we raise will help keep the helicopter flying.

“We had such a success with Santa’s Grotto last year so we decided to do it again this year.”

The grotto will be opening in the run-up to Christmas on December 14, 21, 22, 23 and 24.

On the first four dates it will be open from 5.30pm until 7.30pm and on Christmas Eve it will be open from 5pm until 7pm.

The lights are on every day from 5pm until 9pm.

Last year, the brothers donated £406.61 to Fort Royal Community Primary School, which helped it to raise £17,000 for a new minibus.

The appeal also raised £229.96 for Guide Dogs for the Blind, and the brothers thanked everyone who came to their display and supported both charities.

Ed Francis, head teacher of Fort Royal, said: "We are very pleased that they fundraise for us each year, it makes a big contribution to the school.

"The money raised gives the students something they might not normally get and I know some of the children go with their parents to see the lights.

"They are always saying how special it is and it brings some joy to everyone, brightening up those dark evenings.

"We are very grateful for the contribution they make each year as our children are among the most needy children in the county so it is a wonderful thing that brings a bit of joy to everyone."
