THE Ludlow Rotary Club tree of light is shining brightly and so helping people to remember loved ones not around this Christmas.

Christmas can be a terribly sad time for many people as they recall absent family and friends.

But a dedication can also be made to celebrate a happy family event such as a Silver Wedding Anniversary, or other memorable occasion.

The Tree, located in the gardens by the Castle entrance, was switched on following a torch-lit procession at the Medieval Christmas Fayre.

It is not far from the town tree and together they bring a warm and colourful glow to the centre of Ludlow during the darkest days of the year.

It will remain illuminated until 12th night on January 6.

Ludlow Rotary Club raises money to support good causes in the town and surrounding area. Its biggest event in the year is the annual ‘Dog Day’ in July at Stokesay Court.

Proceeds from the Tree of Light this year will go to ‘Hands Together Ludlow’ a community group involved in activities that include supporting the Ludlow Food Bank.

Dedications forms are available from Wesley’s Cafe, Broad Street, Rockspring Community Centre, Nock Deighton’s Office in the Bull Ring or can be downloaded from the Club’s website, www.ludlowrotaryclub.org.uk/treeoflight.
