THE ashes of a bike that caught fire, spreading to goalposts, have been left on Battenhall Playing Fields.
The bike has been completely destroyed and the fire has also damaged a football pitch.
A picture of the ashes were first posted on social media on Tuesday morning by a dog walker who posted “what is wrong with people?”
On Facebook, Battenhall councillor Louise Griffiths wrote: “Someone from the environment team is coming to assess the damage, will keep you informed about it as I know these pitches are heavily used, but it looks to me as though the goalpost will need to be removed for safety reasons.”

The land is understood to be owned by the University of Worcester.
A university spokesperson said: “We were disappointed and concerned to learn about the damage to part of the University’s fields at Battenhall.
"The incident has been reported to police and we will now be looking to see what remedial work needs to take place and ensure it is carried out as swiftly as possible.”
Dog walkers in the area yesterday called it “disgusting” and said they were concerned it was still there, as the posts looked unsafe if anyone played football.
It is unclear when the fire happened but it appears to have taken place overnight into Tuesday morning. A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told us they had no record of firefighters being called to the incident.
West Mercia Police were unavailable for comment.
