A TEAM of youngsters from the Wyre Forest has beaten off the challenge of hundreds of Scouts across the region to win a prestigious competition.
The Stourport-based 16th Wyre Forest Scout troop at St Michael's lifted the coveted Bald Eagle Trophy with a fine display of team work and navigation skills.
A total of 62 Scout groups from across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire took part in the annual event at the local Scouts' activity centre at Rhydd Covert on the edge of Kidderminster.
The two-day competition involved taking part in a range of team-based tasks before a challenging night-time hike around the Wyre Forest area.
Scout leader Mark Atkinson said: "I am very proud of my Scouts for winning this difficult challenge against so many others.
“Scouting is all about giving young people skills for life and the determination, teamwork and navigation skills they showed during the competition underlined their exceptional abilities.”
