SCHOOLS have been dressing in spots to raise money for BBC Children in Need.

BBC Children in Need will be returning to our screens tonight (15th November), following a special guest appearance from Pudsey Bear.

Pupils from Pitmaston Primary School celebrated raising more than £1,600 for the appeal.

It is not just the kids taking part. Staff at npower’s call centre in Worcester have been busy preparing for BBC Children in Need by selling merchandise and raffle tickets.

Many projects in Worcester will benefit from Children in Need including West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre Advocacy, Worcester.

This project will support children and young people who have experienced any form of sexual abuse. The project will improve wellbeing and self esteem, increase understanding of appropriate relationships with family and peers and increase resilience.

Also on the list of projects that receive Pudsey money is Worcester Snoezelen Project.

The project will provide multi-sensory play for children aged 0-4 with a diverse range of needs. The aim of the project is to increase communication, enhance opportunities to make friends and give access to appropriate play equipment.

Worcester Community Trust Youth services will also benefit.

This helps youth clubs based in deprived areas across Worcestershire. The project aims to assist young people to manage their feelings, take pride in personal achievements and improve life skills.

Also receiving money is Deaf Direct. This is a summer camp and holiday activities programme for children and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The project aims to positively empower children and young people to reach their potential and increase emotional wellbeing.

The St Richard’s Hospice Foundation is also on the list., providing pre and post-bereavement support for children and young people who have recently lost a family member.
