AS your votes continue to come in for your choice of Pub of the Year, this week a Pershore pub is in the spotlight.

Voted for by the public, the aim is to find the most popular watering hole, while also celebrating the many fantastic pubs in our area.

Last year hundreds of pub-goers supported their favourite establishments and we were inundated with votes.

The Star Inn, in Bridge Street, is run by landlord, owner and chef Bruce Lawrence. He took over the pub in 2016, after spotting its potential.

"We fell in love with the place straight away, and we just like to be part of the community," Mr Lawrence said

"There is always something going on in Pershore, there are so many events. It is great to be part of all that."

Mr Lawrence said they run the pub with a traditional feel, turning away from sport and live music so that people can have a drink and a chat, while enjoying the award winning food.

Mr Lawrence added: "If we won it would be testament to the hard work we have put in these last three years."

The winning landlord of the Journal’s competition receives a Pub of the Year 2019 trophy and will be invited to the Houses of Parliament by the town’s MP. Evesham Journal editor Michael Purton said: “The Pub of the Yearcompetition is about highlighting the importance of pubs in their community just as much as crowning a winner."

Anyone can vote but we will only accept slips cut out from the newspaper as votes, not photocopies. We’ll be profiling some of the town’s pubs and those put forward for the award in the newspaper and on our website until voting closes. The voting slip will be published on the Pub of the Year page each week.

The winner will be announced in the Journal and on our website on Christmas Eve. If you’d like your pub to be featured email michael.purton@newsquest.co.uk.
