A MASSIVE plan to build 14,000 extra homes across the south of Worcestershire including 2,000 at Throckmorton Airfield, 200 in Evesham and 600 in Pershore, has been revealed.
The revised draft South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) which sets out where homes, offices and other development will be built up to 2041, includes details of the new homes.
The new 2,000-home town at Throckmorton Airfield, near Pershore, would also be built with a new secondary school and two primary schools, shops and offices and employment land.
And there is the potential for possibly adding a second secondary school and two to three more primary schools after 2041.
The plans for Evesham include proposals for 60 homes in Pershore Road and 40 on land in Hampton, while the 600 proposed for Pershore includes 72 new homes in land off Wyre Road and 75 adjacent to Conningsby Drive.
On top of that, 900 new homes have been earmarked to be built throughout villages in Wychavon.
The proposed new homes are part of 14,000 extra that have been announced for South Worcestershire, on top of the 28,370 already assigned to be built in the current SWDP.
The new proposals are designed to help meet the government's requirement to build new homes in the region.
Planners across the three south Worcestershire district councils - Worcester City Council, Wychavon District Council and Malvern Hills District Council - looked at more than 900 potential sites for development to meet future demand for new housing.
Worcester City Council will have the first say on the plans on Tuesday, October 22, before councillors at Wychavon District Council discuss it at their next full council meeting on October 23. If backed by all three councils, the updated SWDP will still have to go through a public consultation before approval.
Councillor Lucy Hodgson, chairman of the SWDP joint advisory panel, said: “A huge amount of work has gone into selecting the proposed sites and I’d urge residents to read the document in full, understand the reasoning behind these recommendations and – should they be approved – get involved in the consultation.”

Councillor David Wilkinson, chairman of Wychavon's planning committee, said the total homes announced would be meeting the government's requirement for the total number of homes.
"This of course hasn't come out of the blue, almost immediately after the original SWDP was published, the refreshment began -when the figures would be looked at again," Cllr Wilkinson said.
Pershore councillor Charles Tucker said: "The proposals are vague.
"They are asking councillors to nod it through, when it has not been properly assessed.
"Pershore would be majorly impacted. They are talking about building a town the size of Pershore three miles away from Pershore (in Throckmorton).
"Roads would be gridlocked."
