CITY sporting stars were recognised at an annual awards ceremony.
The 16th City of Worcester Sport Awards took place at the University Arena on Thursday, September 12.
Delivered in partnership by Freedom Leisure and Sport Worcester, and supported by Worcester City Council, the awards had 14 categories which were hotly contested.
Winners were announced and presented by Olympian, World Champion and TV athletics commentator, Steve Cram CBE, while BBC Midlands Today's Dan Pallet hosted the event.
Ivan Horsfall-Turner, managing director of Freedom Leisure, said: “The awards as always were a truly humbling night and Freedom Leisure is proud to be the host because the event brings together the city’s sporting elite and allow us to honour the best, which in turn garners a great sporting legacy in the area."
Mayor of Worcester, Cllr Allah Ditta said: “It’s wonderful to see so many people in the community participating in sports in Worcester, from young children through to adults. The city has become a prominent hub for a wide range of sports and the Arena is a fantastic facility too. It’s great that the hard work of so many individuals and organisations are recognised through these annual awards.”
