APARTMENTS have been approved to be built on the site of a disused doctor's surgery.

A Southern Area Planning Committee was held at County Hall on Wednesday August 21.

A total of 16 dwellings will be built along with parking and landscaping to the three storey site.

The surgery, on Pickersleigh Road, will be demolished before building starts.

Representation was made by Alicia Fellows from Greenway Planning who said: "It's important that redundant sites fulfill their potential and this site represents a sustainable form of development."

Discussion centred on the density of the buildings in terms of their foot print.

A spokesman for Malvern Hills District Council said: "On balance, the density levels are acceptable, especially given that they are flats, which would be slightly higher anyway."

Fibre optic broadband is planned for the site.
