A SCHEME which promises to reduce pain in long-term sufferers, giving them a new lease of life, is set to continue in Redditch.

Escape-pain is a rehabilitation programme for people with chronic joint pain, that integrates educational self-management and coping strategies with an exercise regimen individualised for each participant.

It helps people understand their condition, teaches them simple things they can help themselves with, and takes them through a progressive exercise programme so they learn how to cope with pain better.

The course is extremely popular and interested people are being urged to grab a place while they can.

The course will run twice per week for six weeks at The Space, Winyates Centre from September 3.

The sessions will be run on Tuesdays at 1.15pm and Fridays from 2.15pm lasting for one hour.

Cllr Julian Grubb, whose portfolio covers health and wellbeing, said: “This programme arms people with self-management strategies to help them live a more active life with less reliance on medication, which many of our past participants had thought not possible.

“This sort of programme is excellent because not only does it help our residents who are living in pain, it also relieves some of the strain on the NHS, saving public money and resources in the long-term.”
