A RESTAURANT in Malvern received the news that it has been commended in a national competition for South Asian cooking.

Anupam, in Church Street, was nominated by Hariett Baldwin MP to take part in the annual "Tiffin Cup" which is a national competition open to MPs across the country.

Following the nomination, Anupam was visited by a panel of independent judges who gave it a 'Highly Commended' award.

Mrs Baldwin said: "We have some really good restaurants specialising in South Asian cooking in West Worcestershire and each year I keep my eye out for a good eaterie to put forward to represent my constituency.

"Anupam is very well-known locally as a regular place for pre- and post-theatre diners and I have been there quite a few times myself and have always enjoyed my food there.

"I popped in to offer my personal congratulations and to present them with a certificate to mark their commendation.

"I hope they are happy that they have been recognised in this national competition."

The Tiffin Cup is an annual competition run to find the best South Asian restaurant in the United Kingdom.

One restaurant from every region is invited to participate in a Grand Final cook-off event held at the House of Commons.
