TODAY'S picture from the vaults of the Worcester News dates back to 1947, when the river Severn had one of its biggest floods ever. Here we see boaters making their way down the main street of the village of Ripple, south of Upton. The flooding was triggered by the rapid thaw of deep snow after one of the coldest winters on record.
