Country music roadhouse, The Silver Dollar Honkytonk has a new home at The Marrs Bar in Worcester

The Silver Dollar Honkytonk is be a live, regular, country music event, taking place every three months, "with gigs featuring the best country acts from the USA and the UK".

A spokesman said: "Previous gigs have featured the East Lonesome Drifters from London and singer Pat Reedy from Nashville. Further acts from Nashville and California are currently being booked for forthcoming shows."

"The launch night at the Marrs Bar on Saturday August 10 will feature a double-header of nationally-acclaimed UK-based country acts."

Ags Connolly is a traditional country singer-songwriter from Oxfordshire, described by Country Music People as: "The best singer-songwriter in the country field that the UK has ever turned out."

The spokesman added: "Ags has headlined shows across the UK, Europe and the US while also opening for various international artists including Roseanne Cash.

"He’s been featured on both Bob Harris's BBC Radio 2 Country show and his “Under The Apple Tree” sessions. In 2016, Country Music People magazine named Ags’ song “When Country Was Proud” as one of the top 50 country songs from the last 30 years."

Kate Ellis is an American singer-songwriter born in Louisiana, raised in New York and now based in London.

Kate’s southern country-folk roots come from her father who was an important early musical influence – he once played guitar with Hank Williams on the famous Louisiana Hayride, where Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash started out. Kate will be accompanied by her three-piece band.
