A FIRE which broke out at the Heart of Worcestershire College, in Deansway, has been extinguished.
The college had been evacuated and Quay Street was cordoned off.
The police and fire service were called to the scene.
The Worcester News understands that contractors on the site accidentally severed a gas line, which then ignited and started heating up some nearby gas cylinders.
Fire fighters put out the gas flame and hosed down the cylinders with water to cool them.
No students were in the college, as the summer term has ended.
