FROM deckchairs to crazy golf, there's a wealth of good old-fashioned fun to be had at the Severn Valley Railway this summer holidays.

The SVR's locomotives will be in full-steam through to September 1, taking passengers back to the heyday of steam travel, when thousands boarded trains to the coast for their annual summer vacation.

Each of the Railway's bunting-adorned stations will be offering a range of activities to bring back fond memories of summer holidays by the seaside, including Punch and Judy shows, fete games, children's treasure hunts and picnics.

A walking tour will take place at Bewdley, while Arley is the place to go for garden games, deckchairs, Pooh sticks and a lemonade stall.

Highley will host giant outdoor and indoor games, summer camp-themed shows, cinema and a dressing up photo point, and there will be a treasure hunt, vintage bus rides and competitions at Bridgnorth.

SVR events manager Lewis Maddox said: "We’re celebrating the golden age of the great British seaside holiday, with all the things we loved to do, see, eat and drink, from ice cream - without those pesky seagulls - to deckchairs and Punch and Judy Shows.

"Each of our stations will be offering something different."

Family's purchasing a £49 Freedom of the Line ticket can come back to enjoy another day out on the railway for £19.70 until the end of the summer holidays.
