KIDDERMINSTER and District Lions Club has generously presented a cheque worth hundreds of pounds to a talking newspaper to help fund new boom boxes.

The club president Ron Cross handed the long-running The Wyre Forest Talking Newspaper Association a donation of £650 for the purchase of ten boom boxes and memory sticks.

The boom boxes are specially adapted media players that are designed to be easily operated by those with limited vision.

The talking newspaper, which has been running for over 30 years, is produced on a 90 minute memory stick, which contains local news, features and sport from the Shuttle and other local newspapers.

It is produced and sent out every Friday, and is free to all who are unable to read newsprint.

Lion president Ron Cross says the Lions are pleased to be able to support the work of the talking newspaper.
