A PRIMARY school teaching assistant from Kidderminster is hoping to transform the children's party scene with her new range of teepee-inspired sleepover packages.

Slumbertime Sleepovers is the brainchild of 41-year-old Emma Speller, who set about creating mini glamping-style sleepover events after making dens with her own children.

Emma said: "It was a lightbulb moment when I realised we could make it into something much more special."

After trialling the sleepovers with son Hugo, aged 4, and seven-year-old daughter Tilly, Emma shared some photographs with friends.

"They absolutely loved the idea, it was instantaneous," said Emma. "We were asked if some friends could borrow the teepees for their kids and, after realising how much interest there was, Slumbertime Sleepovers was born.”

With help from husband Laurence, who builds the frames, Grandma Speller, who creates the teepee covers and "creative consultants" Tilly and Hugo, the family business is now up-and-running, offering sleepover party packages priced from £75.

As well as the handmade teepees, Slumbertime Sleepovers' packages include bedding, soft mattresses, matching cushions, breakfast trays, lanterns and fairy lights.

Parties can be personalised, with themes including superheroes, mermaids, movie nights and pretty in pink, as well as 'little extras' like balloons, invitations and party bags available at an additional cost.

Emma said: "The kids love getting involved. They give us all our ideas and keep us up to speed with what’s popular with their friends.

"We want to make sure that we are creating great parties for both boys and girls and have lots of ideas in the pipeline including expansion into the wedding market in the not too distant future."

Teepee parties are available for children aged five and above in the Worcestershire and Herefordshire area.
