DADS were invited into a Droitwich school to enjoy breakfast with their children.

Bacon rolls and hot drinks were on the menu at Westacre Middle School before pupils put their dads, grandads or uncles through their paces on the school's rowing machines and exercise bikes, or even challenged them to a game of table tennis.

The event was  a joint collaboration between the school, it's Parent and Teacher Association (the Friends of Westacre) and the town's local Sainsbury's store.

Bryony Boulton, who helped organise the event in her role as staff liaison to the Friends group, said, “It was our pleasure to offer this popular event to all of our children.

"The children got to spend an extra hour with their loved ones, which was a wonderful treat for everyone involved.

"We would also like to thank Sainsbury’s in Droitwich, who donated all of the bacon and rolls for the event.”

Paul Barber, Westacre's deputy headteacher, added: "There was a real buzz around school during these events - to see hundreds of children spending time chatting and playing with someone they love was very special and ensures these mornings are one of the highlights of our school calendar.

"Thanks as always to the Friends of Westacre, whose continued fundraising has helped school purchase a new staging and lighting system for our school hall."

A similar event is held in the run up to Mother’s Day.
