A NIGHT of glitz and glamour is being held at Evesham Town Hall later this month, to raise cash for two charities.

The inaugural Strictly Evesham event is being held at the Town Hall in Vine Street, on Saturday, June 29.

The event has been organised by a group of friends who all live in Evesham and who wanted to hold a glamorous evening charity ball.

Nina Black, one of the organisers, said: "Living in the town we want to showcase the wonderful town square and Town Hall, which is an ideal venue for ballroom dancing.

"We will be promoting local business throughout the event from, the catering, dance sessions and live band - even the ‘celebrity judges’ are local to the area.

"We would love the town to get behind this event, either through sponsorship, donating prizes for the silent auction and more importantly coming along to what promises to be a fantastic evening."

The event starts at 7.30pm and the dances being showcased on the night will include jive, jazz, tango and urban.

There will be dance off at around 10pm, when the winners will be crowned, and after 10.30pm everyone is invited to get up and dance the night away with local band Supernova providing the music.

Tickets cost £50, which includes street food on the night and puddings.

All money raised on the night is being donated to the group's chosen charities St Richard's Hospice and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital charity.
