EVERY year North Cotswolds Rotary presents a certificate and a cheque for £250 to a person or organisation that the club feels deserves recognition for their service to the local community. "We are delighted to announce that the 2019 Community Service Award has been presented to the committee of the Bourton and District U3A,” said club president Ed Alexander. “We have been very impressed by how much the organisation has grown since its inception eight years ago. It now has some 380 members and runs around 40 different groups, and is therefore an integral part of the community and touches the lives of many people.”
The committee are all volunteers and give up a lot of their time to oversee the organisation of a whole range of activities for members.
Thanking North Cotswolds Rotary for the award, chairperson Susan Dodd said: “This award means a great deal to us as recognition for all the hard work undertaken by Bourton and District U3A to encourage learning, laughter and friendship among the local retired and semi-retired community.”
