A RESIDENT of Malvern who runs his own talent agency has been selected to one of the top posts in UK showbiz.

Tarquin Shaw-Young has been voted the new president of The Entertainment Agents’ Association Ltd.

Mr Shaw-Young is the managing director and head of casting for Stagecoach Talent Agency UK.

Over the last 19 years, he has placed his artists in every major West End show, as well as in films such as Disney’s Beauty and The Beast and Transformer 5, and on TV for Game of Thrones and Sherlock Holmes to name a few.

He estimates he has auditioned well over 50,000 performers including Emma Watson, Jamie Bell and Tuppence Middleton.

Coming from a theatrical family, Mr Shaw-Young went on to perform in repertory, in national and international theatre tours and on television before heading up Stagecoach Talent Agency.

He said: “Being a professional agent is a privilege and to be able to provide professional training and high-quality work for our young actors at the start of their career is always the biggest reward.

“Obviously, we are in a real period of change for the industry with the spectre of Brexit ever looming and challenging our performers and productions in both this country and abroad.

"I am keen to build on our membership base and continue to grow and develop an association that is based on longevity, experience, knowledge, talent and above all excellence.”

More locally, Mr Shaw-Young is well-known for his membership of the Team Zulu fundraisers, and for the photographs he contributes to the Malvern Gazette.
