A FIRE at the former Bromsgrove council house offices may have been arson, believe police.

Officers admitted they are treating the blaze at the old Bromsgrove District Council base on Burcot Lane last Thursday night (March 14) as 'suspicious'.

Four fire crews from across Worcestershire took more than three hours to tackle the fire which is believed to have started in a small room on the first floor of one of the buildings.

No one was hurt in the incident but the council, police and fire service have been working together to determine the cause.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson confirmed: "The fire is currently being treated as suspicious. Investigations are ongoing.

"If anyone witnessed the incident or any suspicious behaviour in the area, please call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 730s of 14 March 2019."
