THE Malvern Multicolour Fun Run is back for the fourth year, this time with a Star Wars theme.

The event is on May 4 this year, which inspired organisers to come up with the slogan May the Fourth be with you.

The Fun Run course is now 2.5km long, with the choice of doing between one and four laps, up to a full 10km.

The organisers are encouraging everyone to dress up as their favourite Star Wars character, and already the events team is practising making wookiee cookies, Han Solo mints and other Star Wars related refreshments.

The Malvern Multicolour Fun Run is set in the grounds of ELIM International College in West Malvern.

The cross-country route is completely car-free and open to everyone from five years upwards, though anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Children under five can be pushed in a cross-country buggy or carried.

This year five per cent of the net will be going towards a new playground for St James CE Primary School in West Malvern.

Head Mrs Gemma Martin said: “We’d like to make it the very best that it can be, to promote physical activity, team work and mental wellbeing for all the children.”

All entrants receive a pair of sunglasses, a finisher’s medal, race number and certificate.

There will be a bespoke pizza van, ice creams, hot and cold snacks and drinks and a play area for children with games.

There is no charge for spectators and bags of paint to throw at the runners will be available to buy for £2.

Mayor Cynthia Palmer said: “When I heard about the Stars Wars-themed colour run, I thought what an excellent way it was to raise much-needed funds for the school.”
