Jump Start, Worcestershire’s leading new theatre and writing showcase, will be coming to The Swan Theatre in March, not once but twice.

March 1, Rachael Savage, Artistic Director of Vamos Theatre will be leading a workshop aimed at theatre makers and those interested in working with masks, “taking you through mask making techniques and showing how you can create a play without words”.

The workshop takes place in the Vesta Tilley Studio, Swan Theatre from 2pm to 4.30pm. Places are limited and booking in advance is necessary on 01905 611427.

A spokesman said: “Vamos Theatre is the UK’s leading full mask theatre company, taking its funny and fearless brand of wordless theatre across the length and breadth of the country and beyond since 2006.

On March 2, Jump Start will host a at a “scratch night where four new plays will be performed for the first time”.

The spokesman added: “We welcome new playwrights Alex Lake and Shirley Halse as well as Lacey Moody and Noah Kilworth who have written for Jump Start previously.

The four new plays will include Millionnials by Shirley Halse; Coordinates by Yasmin Taylor-Haroun; The Nobody’s Inn by Alex Lake and Balls by Noah Somal-Kilworth.

Project co-ordinators Steve Wilson and Lee Farley said: ‘Jump Start are proud to support local playwrights as they establish themselves within the region.”
