IF you're a fan of the Dad's Army legend, John Le Mesurier, you have three local chances to catch up with a critically acclaimed tribute show.

John Dutton will be bringing his solo stage show "Do You Think That's Wise" to the Theatre Chipping Norton on January 26; to the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury on February 28, and to the Artrix in Bromsgrove on March 30.

The national tour also includes Hemel Hempstead's The Old Town Hall and the London-based Museum of Comedy.

A spokesman said: "The show was launched at the Bath Comedy Festival last March and at other performances last year, which has seen Dad's Army reach its 50th birthday.

"Stops included Edinburgh Festival Fringe where every show sold-out."

The spokesman added: "The British Comedy Guide after watching an Edinburgh performance said, 'You would think that John Le Mesurier was actually stood before you. This was a detailed, accurate and emotional portrayal of the life of the Dad's Army star. This is an amazing biographical tale worthy of being staged to a larger audience. Look out for it on tour.'"

And the Hi-De-Hi actor Jeffrey Holland said the show was "a brilliant tribute to the great John Le Mesurier"..

And pub landlord Al Murray called the stage "excellent|".'

Carry On expert, Robert Ross said: "I haven't seen this yet and I know it's going to be extraordinary. Why? Because Julian Dutton is an actor and writer who loves what he knows."

Julian said of her hero, John Le Mesurier: "He was an extraordinary extraordinary man. In addition to being a wonderful actor he had this amazing resilience. The show is a celebration of his career and his life, but of course if you do a one-man show about anyone, especially people involved in comedy there are always downsides and shades to light. But he was exactly like Sergeant Wilson."
