RENOVATION projects in Stourport could be set for recognition after the relaunch of the town's Civic Society award.

The society's biennial award is offered to encourage and recognise schemes which contribute to the quality and environment of Stourport.

The projects will be judged by a panel of assessors, with the successful entry receiving a commemorative plaque and a certificate.

The award ceremony will take place at Stourport Civic Society’s AGM on Thursday, May 9 and will feature a display of all entries, which will then transfer to the town’s library.

The closing date for entries, when all work must be completed, will be March 8.

Nominations can be made by builders, owners or members of the general public who would like a scheme to be recognised.

Civic Society chair Pauline Annis said: “We feel it is important to encourage developments and conversions which are sympathetic to the local environment and improve and enhance the appearance of the town.

"At a time of increasing change in Stourport, the people of Stourport need to have some way in which to give public recognition to good design”.

In 2017, there were two winners of the Stourport Civic Award, Worleys at The Swan and The Stourport Primary School.

Other winners have included a private house, Engine Lane canal bridge, The Church House in Areley Kings and The Windlass Cafe.
