PERSHORE’S Number 8’s Winter Season programme has been announced, having been launched in swashbuckling style by PODS’ tremendously fun production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operetta, The Pirates of Penzance.

A spokesman added: “The season continues in festive style with Simon Callow in a tour de force solo performance of A Christmas Carol created especially for the screen, and a Christmas concert from folk duo Belshazzar’s Feast as part of their Two Wise Men Tour.

“Later this month there’s the Bolshoi Ballet’s wonderful production of The Nutcracker and CBeebies Christmas Show: Thumbelina beamed in via satellite, plus festive films The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and The Grinch.”

The spokesman said: “Looking ahead to 2019 the centre has a packed line-up including an opportunity to enjoy local band Fireballs UK’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Jukebox, a spring concert series from Orchestra of the Swan, and the mind-boggling Spectacular Science Show from Mark Thompson.

“Via satellite there are world-class ballets, opera and theatre including concerts from Berliner Philarmoniker, and from André Rieu, the National Theatre’s explosive new play from David Hare I’m Not Running, and screenings of three ballets, Tortoise & the Hare, Elves & the Shoemaker, Three Little Pigs created especially for young children and pre-schoolers.”

As the film awards season approaches there’s something for everyone, whether you enjoy tense thrillers such as The Guilty, historical dramas like Peterloo or Mary Queen of Scots, or fancy a spoonful of sugar provided in Mary Poppins Returns.

The spokesman said: “All this plus informal events The Foyer such as Foyer Folk and Games Nights and the The 70s Toybox exhibition talk with collector Rob Brown, an impressive variety of art, and craft exhibitions, and the opportunity to get a good cuppa or a glass of something stronger in The Foyer.
