A COUNCILLOR has tweeted that she is in the running to be the next parliamentary candidate for Worcester.

Councillor Lynn Denham tweeted on Saturday that she hopes to be the next Worcester Labour MP: "Why do I want to be #Worcester MP? Reason #1 Worcester has been my home for nearly 30 years and I can't bear to see Tory #austerity wreck the city we love"

Cllr Denham tweeted again with a second reason why she would like to take up the position: "Why do I want to be @WorcesterLabour MP? Reason #2 to change the 'toxic environment' for immigrants which deprives longstanding #UK citizens of their dignity, jobs and families"

When asked the question of who else is on the list of people who could become the next Labour MP, a West Midlands Regional Labour Party spokesperson said: “We don’t give running commentaries on internal Labour Party processes or selections.

“Local Labour Party members are energised and enthused about choosing their parliamentary candidate at the end of the month.”

The candidate will be replacing Labour’s former Parliamentary candidate for Worcester Mandy Richards who was dropped last year after it emerged she had shared a conspiracy film, titled Westminster Attack investigation v.2.0, in April last year.

She also questioned the evidence behind the murder of British MP Jo Cox in the same tweet.

In another tweet she asked why there were no images or footage of damage at the Manchester Arena, following the bomb attack last year. She was called a 'fantasist’ after these tweets.
