A REDDITCH paramedic who has spent more than 30 years working for the ambulance service has been honoured for her long service in mentoring students.

Sandra Potter, has won the Long Service Mentor award at the University of Worcester’s Health and Social Care Mentor Awards.

The 63-year-old, who works in Bromsgrove, was presented with her award in a special ceremony at the university.

“I feel extremely honoured and proud to have received this recognition,” she said.

“Working with and guiding the students has been extremely rewarding.

"Watching them progress through their placements has been an honour.

"Being part of their development to becoming a highly competent and skilled member of a team has been a privilege.

"The students also provide me with a learning experience - they are often the first to learn new techniques from the University.

“Having spent over 30 years working for the Ambulance Service and now coming to the end of my career, it is like the icing on the cake to be recognised with this award."

Each year the university's celebrate the outstanding contribution that professionals from the health and social care sector make in supporting students while they are training in the work place.
