A DISABLED woman from Stourport has raised hundreds of pounds after a charity horse ride for an animal charity.

Vicky Frost, 50, completed a 100 mile sponsored ride on horseback in aid of Brooke Hospital for Animals, a charity set up after the First World War who provide care for horses, donkeys and mules around the world.

Vicky took on Brooke's challenge to ride 100 miles in 100 days with a target of raising £100, coinciding with the centenary commemorations of World War One.

Intrepid Vicky started her ride on August 1, managing to complete the challenge on her 87th day of riding, and surpassed the target by raising £216 for the charity.

Vicky developed the blood disease meningitis at the age of 29, which caused permanent damage all of her toes and foot.

She said: "I never dreamed I’d be able to horses ride again but have found my horse is my legs and I can ride much further than I could ever walk.

"I thought the ride was a brilliant idea, and I managed it quite well.

"My horse Dan was very good and completing the ride for Brooke was a great thing for me to achieve."
