THE manager of a charity shop in Bourton-on-the-Water has thanked volunteers, donors and customers for their support as the shop marked 30 years of trade.

The Sue Ryder shop originally opened its doors on Sherbourne Street for the first time in October 1988. Sue Ryder is a charity that supports people with complex needs and life-threatening illnesses across the UK.

Shop manager Samantha Phillips said: “We’re proud to have offered the Bourton-on-the-Water community high quality, second hand clothing, books and homewares at low prices, all the while supporting the care Sue Ryder provides for people facing a terminal illness, a complex neurological condition or the loss of a loved one.

“We estimate that the shop has raised enough funds over the last 30 years to cover more than 42 Sue Ryder nurse salaries.

“We couldn’t have achieved this without our amazing team of volunteers. They have given up their free time to help Sue Ryder, sorting stock, serving customers and keeping our shop open seven days a week.

“A big ‘thank you’ also goes out to the Bourton-on-the-Water community for its constant stream of donations, and our regulars who stop by to browse our selection of goods.

“We’re looking forward to many more years on Sherborne Street supporting Sue Ryder’s care."

“If you would like to be part of something special, we are always interested to hear from people who would like to volunteer. We’re a welcoming, friendly team and volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and give something back."

Anyone interested in volunteering can do so by calling 01451 820760, email bourton-on-the-water4019@sueryder.org, or pop into shop.

Donations can also be dropped into the shop anytime throughout the week.
