HUSBAND-and-wife team Tim and Alex Hughes took part in the Yorkshire Marathon to raise money for Malvern Special Families.

This was their first marathon, and they completed the distance in excellent times, each below the target they had set.

Conditions were far from favourable and they ran the whole 26.2 miles in steady rain, but finished in 3 hours 54 minutes (Tim) and 4 hours 28 minutes (Alex).

Alex is the daughter of Sarah Musgrave, a trustee of Malvern Special Familes, and Sarah and her husband Richard were in York to cheer them on and greet them at the finish.

The couple raised £1,285. which will go towards the purchase of weighted blankets for use with children with limited mobility.

They are hugely grateful for the support they have received and thank all those who have donated to the cause. If anyone wishes to make a donation in support of them, their fundraising page is open for a further four weeks. Donations may be made at mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/alexandtim or by sending a cheque to Malvern Special Families at 73 Church Street, Malvern, WR14 2AE.
