Harley Hetherington, the organiser of a 'Find Jonah' group has posted the following information:

"Police are sending divers into the River Severn this morning.
Brett Cater has kindly created a poster and if anyone wishes to hand these out and stick them up wherever they wish please feel free, the more the better!

"As of this morning no search is planned until we hear from police regarding the dive this morning however if we receive good news from the police I will organise another search but on a larger area of the city."

UPDATE 9.20am

A team of police divers is setting up on the riverside between the boat club and the grandstand.

The divers have come from the South Wales police force, as West Mercia does not have its own dive team.

A spokesman said that the divers will be searching the river and that the quest will go on for as long as necessary

THE search for missing teenager Tom Jones, who is studying Primary Intial Teacher Education at the University of Worcester, is set to resume this morning.

Last night, police said the search would resume around 8am.

The 18-year-old student was last seen close to the river at Worcester Racecourse at around 3am on Wednesday morning after leaving Worcester city centre.

Yesterday, there was a large police presence throughout the day searching both sides of the river and the racecourse.

Mr Jones only arrived in the city to start university last weekend, and police say it is totally out of character for him to go missing.

His parents, Vicki and Ian Jones said they would welcome the help of the city community as they search the area around the River Severn.

A facebook group called 'Find Jonah' has been set up and already has nearly 2,000 members.

Last night, Harley Hetherington posted: "The Severn rescue team have searched all embankment areas along the river before the weir.

"The first 4/5 feet have been searched of the river depth.

"Divers are being sent in tomorrow and sonar devices are being used to scan the river as we speak.

"The majority of Worcester has been searched however I am trying to direct everyone to meet at the footbridge and work together and not only search together but be there for each other at this time.

"Thankyou for all those who have helped so far and please share this around."

Some people were searching the river until late last night prompting police to ask them to stop.

South Worcs Cops tweeted: "There are many concerned friends looking along the river. Can we ask they return home as you are risking your own safety in the dark."
