A STOURPORT venue’s appeal to revamp its seating has been given a welcome boost by a town dance group.

Zennor’s Dance Academy has bought a row of six chairs at the Stourport Civic, which is continuing its overhaul of the seating at the popular facility.

The £250 outlay has enabled the seats to be recovered in the Civic’s purple colour theme and has a plaque bearing the academy’s name on it.

Bosses at the Civic are now appealing for more seat sponsorship to ensure further refurbishments can be carried out.

Academy owner Zennor McGuire said: “I am always happy to support The Civic.

“It is a fabulous venue and the staff and volunteers are always working so hard to ensure they can accommodate all our needs. I also believe the community also must support each other.”

Civic volunteers and attendees have been busy fundraising and collecting donations to boost their efforts, including renovating seating donated to them when the Wyre Forest Glades sports centre closed.

Manager Caroline Caldwell said: “We have given the chairs a new lease of life. They are being recovered to sport the same purple corporate colour the chosen theme of The Civic.”

She added some people had purchased chairs in memory of loved ones, such as the family of late Stourport Town councillor John Holden.

Anyone interested in funding a row or single chair can purchase them from the Civic by contacting 01299 823339 or emailing info@thecivicstourport.co.uk.

Single chairs are £50 to include a personal plaque or £250 for a row of six with a plaque on each.
