A FORMER Worcester man who claims he is a domestic abuse victim has penned an autobiographical book on his own experiences.
John James, aged 52, previously of Rainbow Hill, Worcester, wrote From the Darkness to encourage other victims, especially men, to seek help and not be ashamed to speak out.
The support worker said: "I want to shine a spotlight on male abuse- everyone knows about the abuse of women.
"I went to see the doctor - I was suffering from post-traumatic stress. They said to write down how I felt."
"Eventually, I thought I was overreacting and stopped complaining. It was traumatic. It’s almost like Stockholm syndrome."
He finally reported the emotional and psychological abuse to police in April last year after breaking up in March.
Mr James, now of Leominster, said: "The book is receiving some attention and being supported by ManKind Initiative who help male victims of abuse. The band’s Thunder and Nazareth have wished me well and freely given their lyrics that I use in the book."
