SEVERN Valley Railway are full steam ahead with their latest out of the past weekend extravaganza featuring heritage road vehicles.

Enthusiasts can enjoy a parade of steam rollers, traction engines, steam wagons and a rail-mounted Land Rover take Kidderminster roads on August 11 and 12 at the Steam on the Road event.

The procession of steam vehicles will make their way to the SVR Kidderminster Station, where guests can see a collection of ten full-size engines and miniatures, including the Dorothy Burrell Road Locomotive, Survivor Fowler DNB and Trotter 1 Ton Steam Rollers.

The famous 1957 road-rail Land Rover 'Plimsoll' will also be in operation alongside the SVR's heritage steam train services.

The weekend will also host a beer and real ale festival on the Kidderminster Station concourse, where visitors can admire the vehicles and grab a souvenir bottle of beer.

Rock covers band Blind Lemon will also entertain guests with a performance of classic songs at the station from 7.15pm.

The SVR’s events co-ordinator Lewis Maddox, said: “Our popular summer steam rally is bigger than ever this year, with not only a wide variety of steam-powered vehicles to admire in action and on display but also our beer and real ale festival and to round it all off, live music from Blind Lemon, who are sure to get visitors rocking the night away.”
