MP Sajid Javid's second Bromsgrove Pensioners Fair was visited by more than 500 retirees and family members.

More than 50 exhibitors, including the Royal British Legion West Mercia Police, Age UK and Stroke Association, held stalls at Parkside on Friday (November 3), offering visitors advice on elderly-friendly services and activities across the district.

Speaking after the event, Mr Javid said: "It was great to host my second annual fair.

"It’s important that we continue to back our local organisations by bringing together the very best of Bromsgrove constituency.

"It’s non-political events like this which keep our community spirit alive.

"Thank you to our sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers and all who came along to support the event. I look forward to hosting my third fair next year."

Robert Laing, head professional at Bromsgrove Golf Centre, which also held a stall on Friday, said: "We are very excited to be supporting Sajid Javid’s Pensioners Advice and Information Fair.

"In recent years the average age of golfers who play at least once a week has increased from 48 to 65.

"Isolation can be a major problem for older people, and Bromsgrove Golf Centre welcomes customers seven days a week."

Attendees commented that the fair had inspired them to take up new hobbies and start volunteering.
