IT’S all change again for Worcester city centre with one new shop opened, another on the way and a third moving to a new spot.

Budget store Wilko is heading to the Cathedral Square complex at the end of the High Street and has now confirmed it will be open from 9am on Wednesday, November 1.

The deal is the largest letting in the city centre in seven years with a spokesman saying the firm is “very committed” to Worcester.

Wilko Retail Ltd had signed a 10-year lease for the 20,000 sq ft unit, being created for the retailer from the former Dorothy Perkins store and the former Lychgate Mall.

Further down the High Street, The Jewel Hut - a seller of designer jewellery - is opening its first store in the city tomorrow.

The store is part of the T H Baker family and was previously an online jeweller. It will stock brands including Swarovski, Thomas Sabo, Nomination and Les Georgettes.

It is opening in what used to be the Pandora store, while Pandora is making the move to the former Russell and Bromley shoe shop at number 27.

Pandora’s new home is bigger than its previous store, enabling it to stock even more of its distinctive bracelets, charms, rings and gifts.

Sam Martin, the store’s assistant manager, said: “We are moving to a bigger store.

“It’s probably three times bigger than what we’ve got now. It will be exactly the same product though.”

The new stores are in addition to the bars and restaurants at the new £20 million Cathedral Square including All Bar One, Ask, Miller & Carter, Byron Hamburgers, Cosy Club and Yo! Sushi.
