STEVEN Gerrard became only the sixth player to win 100 caps for the England national team on Wednesday, when he captained the side against Sweden.

Zlatan Ibrahimovich may have grabbed all the headlines after the match for his four goals (including one of the greatest ever scored), but the game will still be one that Gerrard will remember for the rest of his life.

It seems like only yesterday that he burst onto the scene, and there is no denying that he has become one of the greatest players to have ever graced the Premiership.

An online poll published before the Sweden game asked whether he was England’s greatest ever player - but to be honest, I burst out laughing when I read it.

Yes, he is a very good player, but, in my opinion, he is not in the same league as people like Bobby Moore and Bobby Charlton.

Frank Lampard is another player who is on the verge of getting 100 caps- showing that for years HE and Gerrard were automatic choices for England.

Even though many people claim the pair have never been able to play together, managers have constantly picked them for England, because, in they believed the pair were the two best English midfielders and had to play.

Of course, they have both got great attributes, including being able to score 20 goals in a season, but have they really performed well on a consistent basis for England? In my opinion, no.

So that got me thinking, which is the best England team of all time?

This is my choice in a 4-1-3-2 formation. See what you think and let me know who your team is.

Gordon Banks, George Cohen, Bobby Moore, Billy Wright, Ashley Cole, Bryan Robson, Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, Paul Gascoigne, Gary Lineker, Jimmy Greaves.

Who do you think is the greatest ever England player? Should I have considered Gerrard more or even David Beckham? Vote below.
