VISITORS to Weobley can step into the past thanks to the creation of a new history trail.
Split into two parts, the trail gives an insight into the origin of the village’s characteristic black and white timber framed buildings, local industries and agriculture and its little known link to the English Civil War.
A large information board and 19 plaques guide followers, while they can also download audio tracks read by BBC news presenter and former Weobley resident Mary Rhodes and view an online map.
The idea came from the Weobley Tourism Forum after the parish council received requests for more support from businesses and residents who wanted to spruce up the bus shelter in the centre of the village.
Boosted by a £1,500 grant from Herefordshire Council and funding from Weobley and District Local History Society, the village lunch committee and other local businesses and individuals, the trail has now been launched and starts at the bus shelter.
