A LEOMINSTER garden destroyed by fire has risen from the ashes to win a top award in recognition of its volunteers.
The Vicarage Street Community Garden suffered a setback last August when the former scrubland which had been turned into a working garden was set on fire.
But the scheme, run by Extra Choices in Herefordshire (ECHO), recovered and has now received an Outstanding award by Heart of England in Bloom committee.
The community garden was set up four years ago to allow gardeners with a learning disability to work with residents in the area to grow their own produce and develop their selfesteem and confidence.
