The British Red Cross shop in Hay-on-Wye will officially reopen today following a fire last month.

The High Town shop closed on May 29 after smoke from an electrical fire filled the shop floor and stock room, damageing almost 70 per cent of the stock.

Following a swift makeover, the shop is reopening at 11am today.

Hay's mayor Fiona Howard will officially open the shop with Red Cross Wales director Jeff Collins.

They will also be drawing raffle tickets for the All Wales Gala – a celebration event for Red Cross volunteers in Wales – which takes place on Saturday, June 30.
