POLICE are trying to trace a vehicle that hit a telegraph pole near Hay-on-Wye which later caused an accident.
A Volkswagen Golf collided with the pole that was laying on the road at Hardwicke.
None of the occupants in the car were injured, but police would like to speak to anyone who saw the pole being hit in the first place that caused it to be knocked down.
“Witnesses have stated that a light coloured Audi was actually the car that originally collided with the telegraph pole, causing it to fall into the road,” said PC Jon Lynes.
“This vehicle did not stop at the scene and immediately drove away with little thought for the danger that had been left behind with the telegraph pole across the road.”
He added that a wing mirror found at the scene matches a white A6 Quattro, dating between 2007 and 2011.
Anyone with information can call police on 0300 333 3000, quoting reference number 80-S-050612.
